Pause or Resume New Students
Full for the term? Switch "Taking new students" off and the Request a lesson button hides. Switch it back on in one tap when you have space again.
When your timetable is full, you do not need to hide your profile or decline request after request. Switch off Taking new students. Parents can still see you, and you switch it back on when a student finishes.
What the switch changes on your public profile
With Taking new students off:
- Your profile and your card in search results show Not taking new students right now.
- The Request a lesson button disappears, so parents cannot send you new requests.
- The WhatsApp and Call buttons stay, so a parent can still ask about next term.
- You still appear in search, after the tutors who are taking students. Subject pages can take up to an hour to update.
Requests that were already waiting stay in your Requests. You can still accept or decline them.
Turn it off or on
In the LessonPro app, the switch sits near the top of your dashboard. Tap it. It saves at once, with no review.
You can also go to My profile, then Availability. The screen explains the switch and shows what parents see.
On the website, sign in. The Taking new students switch is on the Analytics tab of your dashboard.
Good times to switch it off:
- your timetable is full for the term
- you are travelling, or teaching less during the holidays
- you are busy with your own exams or marking
If a parent still calls or messages while you are full, tell them when you expect a free slot. Then switch back on the day you have space.
Your LP code and sharing your profile
Your LessonPro code starts with LP, followed by 8 digits. It sits in the navy band at the top of your dashboard. Tap it to copy it.
The code is printed on your invoices and receipts, so parents can match a document to you. Quote it whenever you contact support and we can find your profile at once.
When you have space again, switch Taking new students back on and tell people. On your public profile, tap Share profile to send your link on WhatsApp. Want parents to land straight on the request form? Add ?request=1 to the end of your profile link, for example getlessonpro.com/tutor/your-name?request=1.
Each share is counted on your dashboard. How views, contact taps and shares are counted.
