How to Get More Reviews as a Tutor
Reviews win parents. Share your LessonPro review link after a good lesson, explain the SMS code, and avoid what gets reviews removed.
When two tutors charge the same rate, reviews can decide which one a parent calls. Reviews also answer the questions parents are shy to ask you directly: do you come on time, do you explain well, did the grades move?
A parent who is happy with you may never think to leave one unless you ask. This page shows when, what to send, and what to tell them about the SMS code.
When to ask and what to send
Good moments to ask:
- after a lesson where something clicked
- when a test or mock result comes back better
- at the end of a term or a block of lessons
- when a parent thanks you on WhatsApp
Do not ask after the first lesson. The parent has nothing to review yet.
What to send. Your review link is your profile link with "review" in place of "tutor":
- Profile: getlessonpro.com/tutor/your-name
- Review: getlessonpro.com/review/your-name
Find your profile link in the app under My profile, then Open my public page, and copy it from the browser.
A message you can adapt:
Parents can also tap Leave a review on your profile, in the app or on the website.
How the SMS check works for parents
Tell parents what to expect, so the code does not surprise them:
- They choose the stars, type their name, pick the subject (optional) and write a few words.
- They type their phone number. On the website they then tap Next: Confirm your number.
- They tap Send code. LessonPro texts them a 6-digit code, valid for 10 minutes.
- They type the code and tap Post review.
The review goes live on your profile straight away, with the Verified student label. The name they type is shown with the review, so tell them to use a name they are happy to show. Their phone number is never shown. Each phone number can review you once.
What is not allowed
Our terms say reviews must be honest and based on real tutoring. We can remove reviews that are fraudulent or abusive, and fraud can get a profile suspended. We treat all of these as not honest:
- No reviewing yourself. Your own phone and WhatsApp numbers are blocked from reviewing you.
- No reviews from people you have not taught, such as friends, family or other tutors.
- No writing the review for the parent, or typing it on their phone for them.
- No paying for reviews, in money, free lessons or a discount.
Asking every family you teach is fine. Pressuring a parent, or asking them to change a low rating, is not.
When reviews come in, answer them. Read and reply to your reviews.
