Turn On LessonPro Notifications

Get a push the moment a parent requests a lesson or leaves a review. Turn notifications on from the dashboard card or your phone settings.

A parent who sends a lesson request is waiting for you. With notifications on, the LessonPro app tells you the moment it arrives, so you can answer while they are still keen.

What you get notified about

  • New lesson request, with the student's first name and the subject, plus the level if they gave one. For example: Kwame, Mathematics, JHS 2. Tap it to open the request.
  • New review, with the star rating. Tap it to read the review and reply.
  • You are approved, or Application not approved, when we decide on your application.
  • Profile changes approved, or Changes not approved, after you edit your profile.
  • Certificate verified, or Certificate not approved.

A notification shows at most a student's first name. It never shows phone numbers, and it never shows the reason for a decision. Reasons come by SMS and in the app.

New lesson requests also come by SMS, so you get those even with notifications off. New reviews come only as a notification.

Turn notifications on

From the dashboard. While notifications are off, a Turn on notifications card sits near the top of your dashboard.

  1. Tap Allow notifications.
  2. Your phone asks if LessonPro can send notifications. Tap Allow.

The card disappears once it works. Not now hides it for 7 days.

From More. Open More at the bottom. Under Security, the Notifications off row shows while they are off. Tap it.

If you said no before, your phone will not ask again. The button opens your phone settings instead:

  • iPhone: Settings, then LessonPro, then Notifications. Switch on Allow Notifications.
  • Android: Settings, then Apps, then LessonPro, then Notifications. Switch them on. The names can differ a little between phone brands.

Come back to the app. The card and the row go away when notifications are on.

Still not getting them?

  • Are you signed in? Notifications only go to a phone where you are signed in. Logging out stops them on that phone.
  • Did someone else sign in on this phone? A phone gets notifications for the last tutor who signed in on it.
  • Is Do Not Disturb or Focus on? It can silence LessonPro along with everything else.
  • Android battery saver. Some phones stop apps in the background to save battery. Allow LessonPro to run in the background in your battery settings.

If requests still reach you only by SMS, sign out and in again. That registers your phone afresh. Sign in with an SMS code.
