Teach Online Lessons in Ghana: Zoom, Meet, WhatsApp

Teach students anywhere in Ghana online. Choose Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp video or Teams on your profile and send the link when you accept a lesson.

Online lessons let you teach a student in Tamale from your room in Kumasi. As an online tutor in Ghana on LessonPro, you list the video apps you use, and when a parent asks for an online lesson, you send the meeting link as part of accepting it. LessonPro texts the link to them.

Turn on online lessons and pick your platforms

Two settings control this.

1. Your teaching mode. It must be Online or Both. In the LessonPro app, go to My profile, then Profile details, and pick it under Teaching mode. This change is checked by our team before it goes live. Edit your profile.

2. Your platforms. In My profile, tap Where you teach. Under Online lessons: platforms you use, pick every one you are ready to use:

  • Zoom
  • Google Meet
  • WhatsApp video
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Other

Tap Save. Platforms save at once, with no review.

On the website, the same settings are on the Edit Profile tab: Teaching Mode, then Online platforms you use.

Parents see your platforms on your profile under How lessons work, with the line "The tutor sends the meeting link when a lesson is booked." Parents who search without picking an area can find you too, wherever they live.

When an online request comes in:

  1. Create the meeting in Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or WhatsApp first, and copy its link.
  2. Open the request and tap Accept and set a time.
  3. Pick the Day and the Time (Ghana time).
  4. Check the Platform (optional). Your first listed platform is picked for you.
  5. Paste the link into Meeting link. It must start with https.
  6. Add a Note for the student (optional), such as "Have your calculator and past questions ready".
  7. Tap Accept lesson.

We text the parent the time and the link straight away. The link also shows in their My lessons list if they asked from the app, with a Join lesson button. More on accepting requests.

A good online lesson on mobile data

If your student joins on a phone with a data bundle, a few habits keep the lesson going:

  • Send the material before the lesson. Share the worksheet or past questions as a photo or PDF on WhatsApp the evening before. Nobody wastes data loading it live.
  • Use video when it helps. Turn your camera off while the student works through a question. Turn it on to explain.
  • Write where they can see it. A sheet of paper and a phone stand can do the job of a whiteboard app. Hold your work steady near the camera.
  • Have a plan B. If the call keeps dropping, agree to switch to a voice call and continue from the photos.
  • Test the link. Join your own meeting a few minutes early.
  • Keep to time. End when you said you would, and send a short summary and the homework on WhatsApp.
