Edit Your Tutor Profile, Subjects and Photo

Change your bio, subjects, levels, languages, photo and rate. Some edits go live at once, others wait for a quick review. Here is which is which.

Your profile is what parents read before they call you. Keep it current: new subjects, a new rate, a better photo. In the LessonPro app, everything starts from My profile under Tools on your dashboard.

My profile shows your profile the way parents see it. Below it, under Edit, is every setting.

What you can change

Some edits are checked by our team before parents see them. Others go live at once.

Checked before they go live, under Profile details:

  • your photo
  • your Bio / teaching style, up to 1,000 characters
  • your Highest qualification
  • your subjects and levels
  • the languages you teach in, besides English
  • your Rate per hour (GHS, whole cedis)
  • your Teaching mode: In person, Online or Both
  • your Area

Live at once, with no review:

  • Where you teach: your place or the student's, landmark, travel distance and online platforms. In-person lessons.
  • Availability: the Taking new students switch.
  • Referees. Add referees.
  • Payment: your MoMo number. This one sits under Tools on your dashboard, not in My profile.

Checked separately:

  • ID documents: new Ghana Card or selfie photos restart your check and hide your profile until we approve them. Updating your ID.
  • Certifications: each certificate is reviewed on its own.

Your name and your sign-in phone number are not in the form. To change either, message us on WhatsApp.

On the website, sign in and open the Edit Profile tab. Make your changes and tap Save Changes.

Edits that need review (the pending banner)

When you change something in Profile details:

  1. Make your changes. The Send changes for review button turns on once something is different.
  2. Tap Send changes for review.
  3. A Changes waiting for review notice appears on your dashboard and your profile, with the date you sent it and the fields you changed.

Until we approve the changes, parents keep seeing your current profile. When they are approved, they go live and the app sends a push if notifications are on.

If we cannot approve a change, we text you the reason, for example:

  • Profile photo not clear
  • Bio contains phone numbers or links
  • Hourly rate looks wrong
  • Subjects do not match your qualifications

Only verified profiles can edit these details. While your application is still being checked, you can update your ID documents, referees and where you teach.

A bio parents read to the end

Make the first line count. It may be the only one a busy parent reads.

  • Start with who you help and what changes. "Helping JHS 2 and 3 students who fear maths get ready for BECE." Then the details.
  • Give numbers. Years of teaching, levels, how many BECE or WASSCE candidates you have prepared.
  • Say how a lesson runs. "Every lesson ends with 10 past questions, marked in front of the student."
  • Mention the languages you can explain in, if they help young children.
  • Keep it in short paragraphs. Two or three sentences each.
  • No phone numbers, WhatsApp links or social media handles. Parents contact you through the buttons on your profile. A bio with contact details can be sent back.
