In-Person Lessons: Where You Teach

Set where you give in-person lessons: your place, the student's home or both, a public landmark and travel distance. Your exact address stays private.

Parents searching for a home tutor near them want to know one thing first: will you come to us, or do we come to you? Your Where you teach settings answer that on your profile, without putting your home address in public.

These settings save at once. Our team does not need to review them.

Your place, their place or both

In the LessonPro app:

  1. On your dashboard, under Tools, tap My profile.
  2. Tap Where you teach.
  3. Under In-person lessons, pick At my place, At the student's place or Either.
  4. Fill in the fields that appear (see below), then tap Save.

On the website, sign in and open the Edit Profile tab. The same fields are in the Where you teach card, starting with Where do in-person lessons happen?

You only see these settings if your teaching mode is In person or Both. To change your teaching mode, edit your profile details. Edit your profile.

What parents see and what stays private

Public, on your profile:

  • How you teach in person: "Teaches at own place", "Travels to the student" or "Own place or travels to the student".
  • Your area, such as Madina or Takoradi, from your profile.
  • Your Landmark (public), for example "near Shiashie bus stop". Pick something every taxi driver in your area knows.
  • How far you travel, if you go to students.

Private, never on your profile:

  • Your Street address (private), for example "House 12, Mensah Street".
  • Your Google Maps link (private, optional). In Google Maps, drop a pin on your house, tap Share and copy the link.

Your address and map link leave LessonPro only when you accept an in-person lesson at your place. Then they go by SMS to that one parent, and into their My lessons list if they used the app. When you accept, you can also type a different place for that lesson. What the parent receives when you accept.

How far you travel

If you go to students, fill in How far you travel (km, public), from 1 to 100. Parents see it as "Travels up to 10 km", for example.

Be honest with yourself about traffic. Ten kilometres from East Legon at 5pm on a weekday is not the same as ten kilometres on a Saturday morning. A smaller number means fewer requests you will have to decline for distance.

Travel costs you time and transport money. You can price that into your hourly rate. How much to charge for home tuition.
